Wisdom Takes Work Starts July 14
đź‘‹ Hey Reader,
Next Tuesday, July 14, we're starting a brand-new book in The Read Well Book Club: Wisdom Takes Work by Ryan Holiday.
I love when we begin a new book because everyone starts on the same page—literally. If you've been thinking about joining the book club, this is a great time to jump in.
Ryan Holiday's central argument is powerful: wisdom isn't something you earn with age. It's something you earn through deliberate practice.
We spend a lot of time trying to become more productive, more successful, or more knowledgeable. But Holiday reminds us that the goal isn't just to know more—it's to become wiser.
Here are three ideas I'm especially excited to discuss together:
• Wisdom is built, not inherited. Intelligence can be a gift, but wisdom is earned through reading, reflection, experience, and honest self-examination.
• Learning isn't enough—you have to apply it. Books can change your life, but only if their ideas make it into your decisions, habits, and character.
• The wisest people never stop being students. They ask better questions, seek out mentors, challenge their assumptions, and stay humble enough to keep learning.
That's exactly why our book club exists. I think Wisdom Takes Work will be one of our favorites!
We don't race through books just to say we've finished another one. We read slowly. We take notes. We meet every week to talk about and apply the ideas.
We begin reading Wisdom Takes Work on Tuesday, July 14, and I'd love for you to start with us from page one.
If you want to give it a shot, the first 30 days are free.
📚 As always, read slowly. Take notes. Apply the ideas.
