Class Limit: 92 seats left
This November, I’m teaching a deep reading class. It’s for anyone who wants to slow down, think clearly, and build a meaningful reading habit.
We’ll meet each weekday morning and read one of the most profound stories ever written:
The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy.
👋This is a hands-on reading course that's part note-taking workshop and part life reset.
💻 Each weekday morning, via Zoom, I’ll read 5 pages with you and walk through my full reading workflow—highlighting, annotating, reflecting, and journaling. You’ll see exactly how I read, how I learn, and how I hold on to the ideas that matter most.
📘 Why This Book?
The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy isn’t a story about death—it’s a book about how to live.
In fewer than 100 pages, Tolstoy tells the story of a man who followed all the rules, climbed all the ladders, and reached the end of his life… only to wonder if he ever really lived at all.
It’s beautiful. It’s brutal. And it’s true.
What if I’ve been chasing the wrong things? What if I still have time to do things differently?
That’s why we’re starting here. This isn’t just a reading class—it’s a space to pause, reflect, and reset.

❓ FAQ:
What edition will we be reading?
I have selected the Vintage Classics (ISBN - 978-0307951335) translation by the award-winning Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky.
Do I need to attend live? Nope. You’ll get access to all recordings for a full year.
Can I join late? Enrollment closes October 15, 2025, so we can all begin together.
What if I already own the book? You can still sign up—gift the extra copy! (We’re buying them in bulk for cost savings.)
When will I get my class materials? All materials will be mailed out between October 15 and October 20.
How do I attend class? You will be emailed instructions with a Zoom link. You will also be given access to a private community that will host the recordings for 1 year.
Can I join if I live outside the USA? Absolutely! However, the cost of the course includes shipping for materials to anyone in the lower 48 states. If you live outside of that region, I will need to invoice you for the additional shipping costs.
If I'm a member of your book club, am I already enrolled in this class?
Unfortunately, this is a separate course designed to help raise money for my new bookstore! See below. 👇🏻 As such, book club membership does not cover the cost of this one-time course.
Is there a limit to the number of students that can register?
I am using Zoom for the event, and my account limits me to 100 participants. Once the seats are full, I’ll close registration.
If this class speaks to you, I’d encourage you to reserve your spot sooner rather than later. I’d love to have you with us.
❤️ Why This Class Exists
I’m trying to raise $70,000 for the down payment on a building—so I can finally open Edgewater Bookstore, a space for readers, learners, and deep conversations. I'm so excited, but honestly, I can't do this on my own. It takes a community to raise a bookstore.
